I’m actually annoyed when celebrities start preaching on social and political issues. They are performers. They have no special insight into world events. Most of them don’t have a formal education beyond high school. I don’t care what they think about global conflicts. People who are forming their opinions based on what their favorite celebrity thinks are not the ones that are going to make changes in the world.

I unfollowed her a while ago because something about her comes off as very insincere and dishonest. Her "no makeup" looks constantly have filters on them. It's quite obvious that she participated in some sort of "looks maxing" procedure for her model career, but she insists on her "ugly duckling to beautiful swan" story. She calls herself a "scientist", but she only completed an undergrad education (that does not make you a scientist). She's "self-made" but won't admit that being married to a successful pro-athlete may have brought her potential connections and extreme financial stability. There are just many moments of dishonesty.

i don't really follow any celebrity to actually let them influence me. like, i love Doja cat's songs but i am not going to want to buy the shoe she buys even if i have money. same goes for anything. if i think the quality of a product is good i will buy it. doesn't matter which celebrity made or promoted it. but this "blocking" trend is kind of delusional i think. take Met Gala for example. celebrities who did something notable during the past year are only invited. even after that they have to pay and sometimes they don't pay for anything. designers/companies donate them things to promote. and for many celebrities met gala is an investment to their career. think about it like an accountant perspective. an accountant will take up courses to get a promotion or job growth. met gala is like this for celebrities. sure they have money but it is work for them. do you think people like us are the target customers for the things zendaya wore? no. we do not realize the status of hidden rich people or how much they are willing to pay for exclusive products. there is a chance you have no idea about the rich people who actually buy a prada bag or a hermes shirt. the economic condition has become problematic after the pandemic. and people actually have no idea what to do and after genocide and wars that have been going on people are frustrated and they want to do something. and here is where people will hate me.... mass people don't have much ability to do anything actually. the best they can do is throw a small protest or in this case blocking celebrity. the blocking guy on tiktok saying that taylor swift does not care for her fans enough to throw a free concert... why would she? it is a work for her. she is providing a service. maybe she would throw a concert to raise fund. but you will still have to pay for ticket. this isn't only about taylor swift making money, her entire crew will make money who are regular people. so you expect taylor to give you a free concert and because of that a regular person will not make money either. also many people think that celebrities raising a voice against on the present genocide will do a thing. let me ask you a question.. is the israel palestine war an US war? or did the US start it? why do you think celebrities' voice matter in the middle east? this is not vietnam or iraq war that US personally started. I was raised an only child. My dad was always off with the military. My mom was all but useless. I was completely on my own with homework. I had to teach myself to cook. To do taxes. To build a resume and apply for jobs. I had to teach myself to drive. I have been teaching MYSELF for my entire life and I know a lot of people my age that grew up the same exact way. So the people with their shitty podcasts will have to forgive some of us for the fact that we're often behind or not where we "should" be financially. We were set up to fail by generations that had shit handed to them. Some of us will never have the luxury of a retirement.

I think it's fine if somebody doesn't want to speak on a political topic if they aren't in politics. I mostly find it really frustrating how the average person can barely afford rent and groceries, while these A listers are hoarding their wealth like dragons. Almost nobody in our generation can afford a house, and many of us are permanently stuck having to have roommates, even if we're ready to start our own family with significant others. I don't know what the solution to this is. I know that these celebrities aren't the *REASON* the economy is in shambles, but they're a huge symptom and seem not to care about the little guys. I think the change needs to start by addressing the paltry minimum wage and massively inflated economy.
